Keynote Speaker - Dr. Sandra Rosenbloom

  "Do I have to give up my car? Mobility for an aging population."


Dr. Sandra Rosenbloom is Professor of Planning and Adjunct Professor of Engineering and of Natural Renewable Resources at the University of Arizona. Dr. Rosenbloom is the author of over 50 peer-reviewed articles (the sole or senior author of most), and over a dozen book chapters in award-winning and influential publications. She has conducted major studies for many Federal and State agencies as well as for the European Union, the European Conference of Ministers of Transport, and the governments of Australia, France, The Netherlands, New Zealand, Sweden, and the United Kingdom.

She is best known for her work on the travel behavior and needs of salaried women with children, older people, and people with disabilities. She is currently studying the equity implications of alternative transportation financing strategies.

Dr. Rosenbloom is an appointed member of the Executive Committee of the US Transportation Research Board, an arm of the US National Academy of Sciences as well as a member of the Board's Strategic Policy and Planning Review sub-committee. In 2005 Dr. Rosenbloom was appointed a life-time Associate of the US National Academy of Sciences and granted the highest award given by the Transportation Research Board, the Roy P. Crum Award in recognition of her ground breaking transportation planning scholarship.
